A TEARAWAY teenager has been banned from part of Burnley and told to start behaving after he was given an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.

The ASBO on Tyler Towneley, 15, was secured at Burnley magistrates court by Trinity community beat managers PC Adam Gordon and PC Ian Willis.

It will prevent Towneley from: Using threatening, abusive or disorderly words or behaviour, drinking alcohol in a public place or being drunk in a public place, associating with a number of named youths other than when he is at school, and entering the area bordered by, and including, St Mathew Street, Albion Street, Piccadilly Road and Raglan Road, in Trinity.

PC Gordon said: "A lot of excellent work is being done in the Trinity area to address community concerns about anti-social behaviour and under-age drinking.

"That includes test purchases at local off- licences, extra patrols of nuisance hotspots, and initiatives such as Operation Hotspot.

"We've also done a lot of work to identify offenders, and it is as a result of that good police work that this Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been secured.

"I hope the order reassures local residents that we are taking action, and I also hope it shows local youths that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated."

Last month two youths from the Trinity area were given Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) by the police and council as part of Operation Hotspot, a blitz on litter and nuisance.
