NELSON have Major-winning golf technology at their fingertips.

The club has completed the development of its teaching academy by installing equipment that has helped the likes of Tiger Woods to reach the top.

Nelson have invested in the Explanar system, the computerised golf tutor that tells players the correct angle to hold their clubs for a particular shot.

It's a method endorsed by top US coach Butch Harmon, who has in the past helped Woods, Darren Clarke, Mark Calcavecchia and a host of PGA professionals with their swings.

And now Nelson pro Neil Reeves is hoping to achieve similarly exciting results down at the King's Causeway club.

Reeves said: "The idea is to enhance the teaching and we've now got the best system you can have anywhere.

"It's open to anyone in the public but I'm hoping we can use the new technology to help our club team.

"They got through to the final of the Daily Mail five-man team event last year and it would be great if they can do it again."

The academy was launched last week in a ceremony attended by Parnell Reilly, who is vice captain of the PGA as well as pro at Huddersfield.
