Playing an electric guitar until the early hours of the morning, throwing objects from a 17th storey window and growing cannabis in a flat have seen three Blackpool people kicked out of their homes.

Police and council officials swooped last Thursday to evict the three council tenants from homes in the Queens Park flats after a string of complaints from neighbours. One leading councillor said the men had: "Made their neighbours' lives a misery

One 35-year-old man, is said to have had complaints against him on and off for the past nine years. The man is said to have organised booze-fuelled parties in communal areas of the flats and played his electric guitar into the early hours of the morning. He also had convictions for cultivating cannabis in the flat and common assault.

A second man, a 54-year-old, was accused of allowing visitors to his 17th floor flat to throw objects from the window, swearing and getting involved in 'rowdy, drunken behaviour.'

The third evictee, a 32-year-old man was said to have breached his tenancy agreement in a number of ways including allowing visitors to act in an anti-social manner.

Cllr Sue Wright, vice-chairman of the Blackpool Community Safety and Drugs Partnership, said: "We all have a right to relax in our homes without the fear that someone in the local community is going to cause you a sleepless night or ruin your day because of their selfish actions.

"These people have made their neighbours' lives a misery. We have listened to the string of complaints against the tenants and we have acted on them in the best way a landlord can. We hope it sends out a strong message to anyone else even thinking of being a bad neighbour."

Complaints about anti-social behaviour can be made to Blackpool Council by calling (01253) 477477, via the website www.blackpool.gov.uk or by email to customer.first@blackpool.gov.uk.
