IT is very disappointing that Lancashire County Council has decided to close nine branch libraries to save money, it says.
A paltry sum if you consider all the money gathered in huge taxes.
The council says it wishes to concentrate funds on older people and children.
Well, who uses these libraries? In the main, pensioners and children.
My concern is Church Library, a wonderful place which is a light, airy, tidy and clean building. Books are often new and changed regularly.
There are four well used computers and a children's library section which is very pleasant.
The librarian is a most helpful, efficient, informative and friendly person and nothing is too much for her.
The county council says there are other libraries nearby but elderly folk can't be carrying shopping and books a long way.
In fact, it is proposed to cut some bus services!
It appears complete madness to close these facilities.
