Singer Paul Jones is hosting an "intimate evening" at the Burnley Mechanics on March 4. We found out what makes the musician tick.

You've survived from Manfred Mann to Broadway what's the secret of your endurance? Keep moving; a moving target is much harder to hit.

What inspired you to go into music? Being touched emotionally by many different kinds of music; when you're moved by something, you really want to see if you can do that yourself.

Who is your greatest musical hero and why? The late Ray Charles, because he could take so many diverse styles of music and make them completely his own.

The blues are renowned for being, well, blue is the glass half empty or half full for you? Half full unless I've downed it in one.

What's the most rock 'n' roll thing that's happened to you or that you've done? Touring Australia and New Zealand with The Who and The Small Faces. As Bob Dylan once put it: "Something is happening, and you don't know what it is, do you, Mister Jones?"

What's the best piece of advice you've received? The Ten Commandments.

Why should we come to your show? Because, with pop, blues, jazzy show-tunes and gospel, performed by not only me but also my wife Fiona Hendley (and stunning keyboardist Mark Edwards) it's almost as diverse as Ray Charles; and you will really, really enjoy it.
