MARK Hughes is considering handing Paul Dickov a recall for Sunday's crunch Premiership clash with Tottenham Hotspur after he watched the striker make a successful comeback in the reserves last night.

But the Rovers boss has confirmed that Morten Gamst Pedersen will definitely miss the trip to White Hart Lane, and possibly the two league games at home to Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, after the Norwegian damaged his hamstring when scoring the winner in Saturday's stunning victory over Arsenal.

Pedersen underwent a scan yesterday which revealed the 24-year-old had suffered a hamstring strain and not a tear as first feared.

However, Hughes still expects the nine-goal winger to be missing for a minimum of two weeks and possibly even three which rules him out for the immediate future.

"We've had a look at him and it's not as bad as we first feared," said Hughes.

"He's got a strain, it's not a tear, so hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

"I would imagine he'll be missing for two weeks, possibly more, but I can't really say for certain yet because it needs to settle down for a couple of days first."

The news on Dickov was far more positive and Hughes was at Christie Park in person last night to see the 33-year-old make his first competitive appearance since injurying his shoulder at Newcastle five weeks ago.

The Scotland international played 75 minutes against Newcastle's reserve side before he was replaced by Academy striker Raffaele De Vita.

"He'll be better for that," said Hughes.

"It was important he got some game time in his legs because he's been off for a few weeks.

"He had a good run out and that will have done him more good than coming in and doing a couple of training sessions."
