Blackburn Rovers' on-loan striker Florent Sinama Pongolle is relishing the prospect of making a quick return to Merseyside with his new club today.

Pongolle joined Rovers from Liverpool last week on a short-term loan until the end of the season, and he was hoping to make his first start this afternoon against Everton - Liverpool's fiercest rivals.

"I know I will get some big insults," said the 21-year-old Frenchman.

"But that is not important. What is important is that I get on the pitch and do my best for Blackburn.

"If we can beat Everton and I score that will be great for me."

Sinama Pongolle has an open mind about his future after switching clubs just before the January transfer window closed.

He rejected the chance of returning to France and opted for Ewood Park instead.

"I wanted to keep that British spirit," said Sinama Pongolle.

"It is important to stay in England and show people what I can do, maybe Rafael Benitez as well.

"It is not that easy for him as he has a big squad and some big players.

"But Liverpool is not really in my mind at the moment. I just have to concentrate on putting in a good four months at Blackburn.

"This is a club that is moving forward. There are some quality players here and I feel we can do something really interesting."
