IN response to the article (LET September 30) regarding Hyndburn Council, which said the council was to send out letters to its staff thanking them for not taking as much sick leave as they had the year before!

How can the council justify the tax payers' monies being spent on sending out these letters?

This must rub salt into the wounds of the 72-year-old lady and the retired vicar who went to jail because they hadn't paid, not all, but part of their council tax.

Then again these letters can only be sent out if the staff come into work and are not off sick!

Where is the logic?
