A DARWEN man punched another man in the face resulting in him needing surgery.

Preston Crown court was told that David Ryder was left with permanent scarring to a lower eye lid.

Danny Flynn, 21, of Hodder Grove, had pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Mr Ryder in January.

Michael Murray, prosecuting, said Mr Ryder had gone to a nightclub. As he left a number of people were arguing and he became involved. He left to go for a take away meal and was assaulted by Flynn.

Ken Hind, defending, said Flynn accepted there was no excuse for what he did.

He was given 100 hours community punishment and an 18-month com-munity rehabilitation Order with £150 costs.
