IT is completely untrue and irresponsible for Don Rishton to state that "the decision on Darwen Academy was made many months before meetings were held with Redearth Road residents." (LET, August 25).
I did "trawl through the minutes" as Mr Rishton suggested and the academy idea (but not the siting) was first mentioned on the February 17 2004.
Public meetings about the options (including clearance) for Redearth Road were held in August 2003 at Darwen Community Centre and at the Executive Board in October 2003.
Getting these basic facts wrong somewhat undermines the rest of Mr Rishton's comments.
