LANCASHIRE keeper Warren Hegg is hoping his side can take another step closer to a superb hat-trick of trophies as they look forward to a C&G Trophy quarter-final against Sussex tomorrow.

The Red Rose county are aiming for honours on three fronts as the season enters its business end with Lancs going well in the Frizzell County Championship Division 2, C&G Trophy and Twenty20 Cup.

And their chances of landing a spot in the semi-finals of the one-day domestic trophy were given a huge boost as Lancashire welcome three players in the fold.

Lancashire will be at their strongest with the inclusion of talisman Andrew Flintoff, who has been cleared by the ECB to make a rare appearance for his county, and Lancs should hand debuts to Andrew Symonds and Marcus North who replace Muttiah Muralitharan and Brad Hodge who have linked up with their national teams.

Hegg, who retires at the end of the season, said: "It's good to have Andrew Flintoff back. It's not just his batting and bowling but his general presence around the team.

"It's great to welcome him back into a team that's really starting to gel."

Lancs have been in imperious form of late and with the signings of Symonds and North, the county have real momentum as we approach the final run-in.

He added: "You don't really have to say too much about Andrew Symonds. He's a terrific cricketer and he's got a fantastic record in the one-day game.

"He's someone we've respected greatly whenever we've played against him and he's coming to us off the back of a great series with Australia.

"We met Marcus (North) at Durham last week. He's a nice fella and a terrific cricketer and he'll be a great addition to the squad.

"It's a massive boost to us to have an injection of talent at this stage of the season ahead of some huge games but we're still going to have to play well to beat a strong Sussex side.

"It's been a great season so far and I'm happy with my game. I'm keeping well and I'm batting well and I'm contributing in a strong side and for us to be fighting on three fronts is great, especially if we can keep that going into the final month of the season."

The Sussex game is followed three days later by the quarter-final of the Twenty20 Cup where Lancashire Lightning will look to beat Derbyshire Phantoms for a third time in this year's competition.

But Hegg is concentrating on Friday's clash with Sussex at Old Trafford.

And the Lancs keeper, in his last season as a county cricketer, is hoping to go out with a bang and a ninth trip to Lord's is in the sights of the veteran gloveman.

"It would be great to get back to Lord's one last time," he said. "It's the pinnacle of a county cricketer's career. To get there eight times is fantastic but I'd love to get back there one last time.

"We're in with a shout for three trophies and we'll be trying hard for all of them. To win all of these would be terrific but I'd settle for just two!"
