AROUND a dozen homes across the borough have been searched by police as the hunt continues for a violent prisoner on the run.
Andrew Chadfield (21), from Bury, disappeared within hours of being accidentally transferred from a secure unit to HMP Kirkham open prison on June 17.
He had served just four months of a five-year jail sentence for attacking an 89-year-old Bury woman and stealing her handbag.
His victim suffered injuries including a fractured hip and has since been forced to move into a care home.
