A MOTORWAY is being closed for maintenance work.
Work will begin on a 5.5 mile stretch of the M66 northbound at Bury over the coming weeks between Junction 2 (Bury) and the start of the motorway at Edenfield.
The eight overnight work sessions will start on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23, from 9pm to 6.30am and run for three weekends thereafter.
There will be a diversion, rerouting traffic via the A58 and A56, before rejoining the M66 as it meets the A56T.
The work will include resurfacing of the northbound carriageway, upgrading roadside electrical systems, and maintenance of around a dozen bridges. The works are due to run until Saturday August 13.
