A FUNERAL service will take place tomorrow for tragic David Kearney who lost his battle for life after being attacked by two rottweiler dogs.
David, 11, of Broad Gate, Darwen, died last Wednesday after fighting against his appalling injuries for 11 days.
A funeral service will conducted by the Reverend Dick Cartmell, at St James's Church, Darwen, at 2pm, followed by interment at Darwen Eastern Cemetery. David died last week after doctors at Booth Hall Children's Hospital, in Manchester, and his parents Kevin and Margaret, decided to turn off life support machines after his condition dramatically worsened.
He was attacked by the dogs after climbing into a back yard in Redearth Road, Darwen, to retrieve a football.
The two dogs, Jet and Sam, which belonged to Kevin Turner, have since been destroyed at the owner's request.
Police have prepared a file for the Crown Prosecution Service who will decide whether Mr Turner should face charges.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
