A RALLYING call was made for successful career women to join ranks when the Blackburn branch of the Business and Professional Women held its annual meeting.
Newly-elected president Lorraine Mullins from Mellor, made a pledge to launch a recruitment drive to attract new members to the group, when she took over from retiring president Mrs Marjorie Downham. She said: "This organisation is all about encouraging women to fulfil their potential, giving them the confidence to participate in public life and decision making, and the ability to influence and educate.
"I look forward to helping to attract interest from business and professional women of all ages across the area."
The BPW meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Holy Souls' Church Hall, Brownhill, 7.30pm.
