FORGET records, it's back to reality now.

From here onwards the promotion push gets more serious with every game. And that means beating Plymouth Argyle at Deepdale on Saturday.

Regarded by many as the dark horses of Division Three, Plymouth will be a difficult proposition, but North End will have something of a psychological edge given their excellent 2-0 win there at the start of the season.

Gary Peters will be going all out for a victory to put his promotion-chasers back on track. Another slip would throw a king-size spanner in the works and give Chester and Gillingham further breathing space.

Whether Peters sticks with his 4-5-1 formation for Saturday remains to be seen. It didn't spark into action at Barnet because of the lack of width. Deepdale poses no problems width-wise, so Peters may keep the faith.

A win on Saturday would firmly kick-start North End's renewed challenge. It is essential that Preston keep up the pressure on their key rivals and with Plymouth lurking menacingly in 4th position, victory is vital.

Gary Peters will be looking for a significant improvement on last Saturday's display. Preston's pride has taken a fall, so the visitors had better beware. The scene is set for a backlash!
