WAR comes to Holcombe Brook Iin Bury next Wednesday when a top profile prisoner will be abducted in a demand for ransom!
The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Neville Singer, will be kidnapped from Holcombe Brook Country Primary School and taken prisoner by landlord of the Holcombe Hounds pub Joe Bleacher, and his henchmen.
He will be held under siege at the historic ale-house and if sufficient ransom is not paid by 3pm the threat is that "the Mayor gets it."
Once the ransom is payed a platoon of the Territorial Army will engage in a fully armed combat attack on the pub to free the prisoner - and the General's orders are to take no prisoners!
The ransom is being paid by generous local businesses and the money collected will be share among Holcombe County Primary School's playground appeal and one of the Mayor's charities.
