BURY'S scoring touch returned at Gigg Lane on Saturday with a convincing 4-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers. It has placed the Shakers firmly in the promotion battle and put them in on the right footing after the dreadful start to the New Year.
And Phil Stant has finally ended his ten-match goal drought. "It was obviously a great relief," Phil said.
Skipper Dave Pugh started the rout after 34 minutes only for Matt Carmichael to equalise for Rovers just before the interval.
Yet the second half was all Bury. Lenny Johnrose headed the Shakers back into the lead eight minutes after the restart.
And Phil Stant finished superbly for Bury's third, showing Stan Ternent he can delay his hunt for another striker.
Then, with the final kick of the match, Tony Rigby added the fourth- a twenty yard strike that curled into the net.
