FIREMEN raced to Hoghton Tower today - and found themselves caught up in the middle of a £3 million Granada Television epic.
Film crews had been at the 16th century ancestral home for the previous week, working on a lavish production of J B Priestley's Lost Empire.
But the flares used to illuminate the hall simulated smoke and well-meaning neighbours raised the alarm.
