RAFFLE tickets for the original painting of the SuperScan Christmas cards go on sale this week with the aim of raising a further £4,000 for the appeal.

The picture was a generous donation from Blackburn artist John Chapman and the tickets are available from the general offices at the Blackburn hospitals, from Lancashire Evening Telegraph offices and from appeal committee members.

And this week Karen Maxwell and Anne Rigby who work at the front counter of the Evening Telegraph Blackburn office received a personal thanks for all their help and support from appeal chairman Mike Trickett.

SuperScan started at the beginning of October and is in its fourth month, with the total standing at £30,840.

It aims to raise £1 million to buy a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner for people in East Lancashire - a vital instrument in the early detection of diseases like cancer and multiple sclerosis. Chairman Mike Trickett is eager to encourage everybody to get involved, especially clubs, organisations, businesses and schools.

Orchard Working Men's Club, Whalley Road, Blackburn, this week pledged their support to the appeal by inviting people to a cabaret concert with entertainers and vocalists on February 14 at 8pm.
