BRUTAL thugs smashed a door against a six year-old birthday boy. They broke his thumb and sliced part of his nail off.

Daniel Sargent was left screaming amid a party of his horrified infant pals who were with him for his birthday celebrations.

The terrified youngster, a pupil at Hindley Green County Primary School, was treated at hospital for a fractured thumb after the incident in a Railway Road, Leigh doorway.

Three teenagers were seen running away from the scene opposite Cook Street at 1.30pm last Friday.

Daniel's mum Carol is appealing for witnesses to contact Police.

"Whoever did this is sick and evil. People who saw what happened said they twice slammed a door against Daniel's hand," she said.

"One of the boys was described as about five feet tall with blond curly hair and a hood. Another was taller with red hair and the third creep had dark hair. They were all around high school age."
