VISITORS to the Harris Museum and Art Gallery can see Preston North End's soccer legend Tom Finney kitted out in full football strip.

They might be disappointed that it's not the man himself, but it's a lifelike portrait of him painted by local artist Edward Robinson at the height of Tom's football career, in 1951.

The picture has been bought for the town thanks to a grant from the Museums and Galleries Commission and sponsorship from Harrison Drury & Co solicitors.

Eddie Starkie from the sponsoring company said: "I am extremely proud to bring his portrait to the town."
