BRIDGE brought a few smiles back to their supporters with this more polished performance ... somewhat better than their non-descript efforts of recent weeks!
Before the Christmas festivities, Guiseley revelled in a four-nil thrashing of Bridge over the Pennines.
But Irongate on Saturday was something different! After 20 minutes of hard fought football from both camps, Bridge finally made the necessary breakthrough thanks to Paul Chadwick. This narrow advantage looked secure until Guiseley equalised through Billy Roberts, with the half time whistle at the ready.
Shades of another stalemate loomed large throughout the second half both teams struggled to push forward and find a winning goal.
Then when all seemed stagnant, reward came for Bridge in the last fifteen minutes, courtesy of two well taken opportunities by Dave Leaver.
With a final score of Bridge 3 Guiseley 1, Bridge held on to their four point advantage at the top of the Unibond League Premier Division ... but only just!
