THE web of intrigue spun by the Murder Squad's mysterious plot This Deadly Breed certainly captured my imagination, writes Nicola Jolly.

With more than three hours of truly absorbing entertainment and hot buffet for £10, I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised at how much I took to my role of investigator.

The plot revolved around five strong characters with each member of the Miller family possibly implicated in the crime.

The cast teased the eight teams of detectives with snippets of scenes leaving clues in their conversation.

I found myself eagerly scribbling down notes, conferring with team members and becoming obsessed with motives, weapons and alibis.

The actors never came out of character when they took turns to be interrogated by each team, making our detective work all the more believable. We were awarded points for accurate questioning and spotting the red herrings.

My team failed dismally to crack the case but everybody had uproarious fun sharing far-fetched conclusions read out by the very witty narrator. Much praise to him and the rest of the cast for polished, convincing performances.
