IN A RARE display of all-party unity, Burnley council voted unanimously to oppose hospitals' bid to opt out. All 45 councillors present opposed the draft application for trust status presented by Maggie Aikman, Burnley Health Care Unit chief executive. In a heated debate she was accused of arrogance in applying for trust status against the wishes of consultants, staff, local authorities and the public.
