STANLEY crashed out of the Unibond League Cup despite taking a fourth minute lead when good work by Ged Walsh set up John McNally to score from close range.

Leek almost equalised six minutes later, Rob Mulloy saved from Steve Soley and from the resulting corner, Matt Beeby's header was cleared off the line by Mark Rawstron.

It was on 27 minutes that leek did equalise, a through ball from the left found John Giblin who beat two defenders and scored.

Three minutes later and Leek went in front as the Stanley defence failed to clear the ball and Darren Twigg, unmarked, scored.

Twigg was again left free on 36 minutes to score his second and Leek's third goal.

In the second half Darren Quick had a powerful header saved by Tony Bullock on 75 minutes and with five minutes remaining Walsh hit the post with a 20-yard shot.
