Blackpool Scorpions 20 Heysham Atoms 48 THE Atoms began the defence of the North Lancashire Shield with an away game against the Blackpool Scorpions on Saturday.
After an unfortunate kick-off which gave Blackpool possession of the ball, Heysham soon regrouped in attack and the game continued with tries scored by Dorrington, Townsend, Harrison, and Walker who concluded the Atoms scoring in the first half.
The second half began well for Heysham with Stott scoring and Walker going over to score his second. However a scuffle saw an Atoms player sent off - later revoked by the referee - and this lead to Blackpool scoring.
Harrison then made his second and Hornby went on to score their final try, leaving the scores at 20-48 at the final whistle.
League fixtures resume this weekend with the Atoms travelling to Manchester to take on UGB.
