STAFF at Stirk House Hotel, Gisburn, have slammed rumours that the well-known hotel has gone bust.
They believe the gossip may have started after a small number of staff were made redundant recently.
But today a spokesman for the hotel said: "There's nothing in the rumours that we've gone bust. The receivers are not in. We're trading and everything's fine.
"This rumour has been going on for the past two weeks. It's very annoying. We've streamlined staff down a little bit, that's all."
Up to a dozen part-time workers are believed to be involved but the majority of the hotel's staff have not been affected.
