BURNLEY schoolgirls led the North West league for gymslip abortions - for the second year running.
But now health experts hoped a brand-new clinic would end the grim record that had baffled doctors in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
"We don't know why this should be," said the district's community medicine specialist Dr Ronald Rayworth. There are plenty of similar towns like Blackburn or Bolton which don't have the same rates."
