AFTER reading Simon Donohue's report (LET, August 17) on the Oak Hill Park Sound '96 festival, I couldn't help but think he had completely missed the point of the event by comparing it with Oasis at Knebworth.
To come to the conclusion that Sound '96 was a damp squib is grossly unfair.
The annual event has a charm and feel of its own. As a free festival, it is a great family day out and, in my opinion, goes from strength to strength. As for the content, these are largely local acts at the start of what I'm sure they hope are their careers. It is a credit to the organisation that it gives young bands a chance.
Also, why no mention for the headline act, Seven Little Sisters?
Sorry, Simon, I'm afraid you didn't get it. Next year, go to Knebworth - you deserve each other.
