POLICE in Burnley are desperately trying to trace the father and brother of a young clubgoer who died from suspected Ecstasy poisoning after ignoring his mum's pleas to quit drugs.

Jason Ali, 21, collapsed in a coma at a Bradford night club 48 hours after his mother who lives in Thorburn Drive, Whitworth, Rossendale, had begged him to stop taking the tablets.

He died hours later in hospital despite all attempts to revive him.

Jason's father, Mazador Ali, and his brother, Ronnie Ludlam, have both lived in Burnley but attempts to trace them and tell them of the tragedy have so far been unsuccessful. A police spokesman said: "We were given an address for Mr Ali in the Top of th' Town area and for Mr Ludlam in the Daneshouse district.

"We have been and interviewed neighbours but to date their whereabouts is not known.''

Jason's mother has told how he refused to listen to her warnings. She said he had been involved in drugs since he was 16 and only last week was unconscious after taking Ecstasy. She warned him that one day they would kill him.

He visited her home on Saturday before going to Bradford.

She shouted and screamed to try to stop him and begged with him not to go. But he still went, later collapsing on the dance floor where friends tried to revive him.

Jason's mum said he had worked as a grinder at a factory in Bacup but was sacked after fighting back after being taunted.

"His life went downhill from that point,'' she said.

Jason also has another brother and two sisters.
