FIVE YEARS AGO: FORGED £20 notes were flooding East Lancashire as villains cashed in on an explosion of counterfeit currency.
Hundreds of the forged notes were in circulation and, according to landlords, they could be bought in Blackburn bars for £3 each.
Scores of business people had been fleeced by the forgeries - which were as worthless as Monopoly money.
