Morecambe 0 Telford Utd 1 MORECAMBE'S form took a dramatic dip on Bank Holiday Monday as they were beaten at Christie Park by a workmanlike Telford Utd team. After a good start, nothing ran for the Shrimps in a game they were expected to win easily especially after good recent performances against promotion hopefuls Macclesfield and Stevenage. Ian Monk shot low into the keeper's arms in the 10th minute and John Norman fired wide when he should have done better five minutes later. They continued the pressure with a penetrating run by Justin Jackson providing Monk with the chance to shoot but he belted it over the bar.

That was as good as it got for Morecambe and in the 38th minute a costly mistake by Neil Sang gave Telford frontman Brian Gray the chance the fire the ball past the outstretched Steve McIlhargey from 15 yards. Jackson thought he had brought the Shrimps level before the interval when Telford 'keeper Ken Hughes collided with his defender to leave the ball free for Jackson to tap it but the referee had already blown for a foul by the Morecambe striker. After the break man-of-the-match Richard Annan seemed the only Shrimp willing to venture forward and even the introduction of Jim McCluskie and Paul West didn't change the performance.

TEAM: McIlhargey, McKearney, Annan, Miller, Hughes, Knowles, Monk, Sang (McCluskie), Jackson, Norman, Leaver (West). SUB: Rushton. Stevenage 4 Morecambe 2 The man in black upsets Shrimps! AT 2-0 up at form side Stevenage with just 20 minutes on the clock, it looked as though the Shrimps were on their way to clinching one of the best results of their, so far, short Conference career.

Stevenage defender Sodje's own goal gave Morecambe the lead after 21 minutes after Dave Leaver's cross and Justin Jackson made it two before the break but the drama was yet to come.

Referee Perkins awarded the home side a questionable penalty on 69 minutes which Webster converted and then the highly rated Stevenage striker Hayles took over.

He scored the equaliser in the 72nd minute and three minutes later put the home side ahead with a fierce shot. The points were sealed for the early Conference leaders with their fourth goal in ten minutes, Venables getting on the scoresheet.

Macclesfield 0 Morecambe taught title contenders Macclesfield a footballing lesson in a thrilling encounter at Christie Park last Wednesday night.

And it was sweet revenge for goalscorer Ian Monk, the man that Sammy McIlroy's Macclesfield released last season allowing him to become a firm Shrimps' favourite.

The deciding goal came after 52 minutes when Tony Hughes hit the post following a corner. Justin Jackson latched on to the loose ball and laid it off for Monk to hit home, sparking some real celebrations for the little winger.
