WHEELER-DEALER Adrian Heath was locked in talks with a First Division club today as he bids to bolster the Clarets front-line attack.

The Turf Moor chief is keen to have at least one fresh face in his line-up in time for Saturday's mighty Division Two challenge against Millwall at the New Den.

And that could mean a new arrival at Turf Moor in the next 24 hours.

Heath revealed: "I'm waiting on one or two telephone calls and I'm due to have further discussions with a manager.

"With that in mind I hope to sort something out by the weekend and have at least one new player in our squad.

"The target I am pursuing is a striker with a First Division club. If possible I would like to have two signings on board for the weekend. "The move is nothing to do with the Shrewsbury result. Everybody knows that my search to strengthen the squad is on-going.

"I want to bring players in to increase the overall competitiveness of the squad and add to our strength in depth."

Recent moves to land Bolton's Fabian De Freitas and Chelsea strikler Mark Stein underlines Heath's desire to add a quality signing to his Burnley squad. But the manager was keeping the identity of his latest target under wraps today. Heath is exploring the possibility of taking Swansea's central defender Keith Walker on a month's loan.

Swansea appear reluctant to let the 30-year-old Scot play in a competitive game for the Clarets and Heath added: "We may take Keith on loan for a month which would solve that problem."

Walker has figured in more than 300 League games for Stirling Albion, St Mirren and Swansea. Portadown's 17-year-old defender Gareth Fulton will be training with Burnley for the next week.
