MARLON Beresford is an injury worry for tonight's Coca-Cola Cup clash at Charlton Athletic.

The Clarets goalkeeper had further problems with his troublesome shoulder injury after Saturday's 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers and remains a doubt for the second round, first leg tie.

Assistant manager John Ward confirmed: "Marlon fell awkwardly and his shoulder is still very sore.

"We will leave until the last minute until we make a decision. The signs are fairly encouraging and he should be able to play. But we will just have to wait and see."

Manager Adrian Heath named a 15-man Burnley squad today and has added youngster Paul Weller to the travelling party. Wayne Russell is on emergency standby in case Bersford fails a late fitness test.

Heath added: "It's vitally important that we keep the tie alive for the return leg at Turf Moor a week today.

"I believe we are capable of doing just that. Charlton are a good footballing side, which I think will suit us.

"We've had them watched several times, including their defeat at Manchester City when they were terribly unlucky not to get at least a point. "Charlton may have a little bit of an indifferent start but they've won their last two games and seem to be coming into some sort of form."

Burnley from: Beresford, Russell, Parkinson, Eyres, Harrison, Winstanley, Hoyland, Matthew, Brass, Nogan, Barnes, Gleghorn, Smith, Cooke, Weller.

Charlton from: Salmon, Barness, Stuart, Jones, Chapple, Balmer, Newton, Leaburn, Robinson, Allen, Mortimer, O'Connell, Whyte, Brown.

Burnley director Clive Holt will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Clarets Independent Supporters Association at the Centre Spot on Thursday, September 26.

Membership secretary Dave Wynne said: "We feel this is a breakthrough for the fans and we are delighted that one of the Turf Moor directors has agreed to meet the Association.

"Our membership is growing steadily and new members are welcome on the night."
