A SKINHEAD subjected a pensioner to a "despicable" sex attack as she walked her dogs behind Darwen Leisure Centre.

Today a police hunt was under way for the attacker who struck last night between 11 and 11.30 on grass land off Weavers Row, Tockholes Road, above, as the 67-year-old woman was walking her dogs.

A man with a skinhead haircut approached the woman from behind and forced her to the ground before subjecting her to an indecent assault.

Now police are hoping someone may have seen the attack which took place close to Police Street car park. Det Sgt Rob Campbell, of Blackburn CID, said: "The woman has yet to be formerly interviewed as she is very distressed. But it would appear she was grabbed by the offender and pushed to the ground. She was then subjected to a nasty assault."

Detectives are hunting a man in his 20s. He is 5ft 8in tall and stockily built with a skin head haircut. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt.

The sergeant said: "This stranger approached a lone female as she was out walking her dogs at night and carried out a despicable act.

"Anybody passing the area could have seen the man and we would ask them to call the police."

Anyone with any information should contact Darwen CID on 01254 701777.
