WIGAN Council is warning local people to 'watch out for the Waltzer'.

Environmental health officers are telling people to be on the look out for an itinerant showman who is thought to be touring the area with a children's Waltzer ride.

They have already had to take steps to turn him off a pub car park and believe he may try to set up his machine elsewhere. The Waltzer is extremely noisy and in a poor condition.

Environmental Health Officer, Bob Saunders said: "We would not wish to spoil any child's fun, and the Waltzer ride is something which many of us will remember with affection from our childhoods.

"However, there can be no doubt that this particular machine is not worth its effect on public peace and quiet. If the Waltzer turns up in your area you don't have to put up with the continued noise. Let us know and we will take the appropriate action."

If the Waltzer turns up in your area ring 01942 404516.
