AN AMBULANCE crew took on the role of midwives when they answered a call from Jean Sugden of Ontario Close, Blackburn.
Instead of taking the expectant mother to hospital, Ambulancemen Mick Grimshaw and Peter Barratt delivered her healthy 7Ib 5oz son Luke Antony.
Nearly 1,000 council house tenants asked Rossendale Council to install central heating in their homes.
