KURT Nogan has launched a blunt attack on manager Adrian Heath and his assistant John Ward.

The Burnley striker was unhappy with constant "barracking" of players from the bench during Saturday's 2-1 victory over Plymouth.

And several players were quick to make their feelings known to the management duo during a frank dressing room exchange.

"There was a couple of us not happy with the staff shouting at us for 90 minutes.

"We are a bit unhappy at the moaning going on.

"We don't need it - we get enough of that from the fans.

"Personally it doesn't help me as a player. I don't know what it does for other players.

"If he (Heath) is barracking me all the way through the game it is not going to help me - it is going to make me worse.

"I have let him know how I feel and a couple of others have said the same.

"We have played better and not got three points so they should be delighted.

"I thought we deserved the three points today and we are climbing the table. "We are panicking over nothing and it comes from the sidelines.

"We have had a hard week's training and the lads feel a bit jaded to be honest.

"We need support rather than barracking from the staff.

"We will all be friends again on Monday, but the players are entitled to their opinions."

But Heath stood firm over his touchline approach. He said: "Unfortunately I have to work as hard as I can to make sure we don't get sloppy.

"And it will continue to be the same here.

"Kurt might have a case but I think moaning at him a bit more might make him a Premier League player because he has the ability.

"He is entitled to his opinions and I have no problem with that."

But Heath was also disappointed with the fans' reaction to Marlon Beresford.

The keeper held onto the ball in the dying seconds when many fans were urging him to release forwards Nogan and Paul Barnes with opposition keeper Bruce Grobbelaar stranded up the pitch after attacking a Plymouth corner.

Heath said: "I was a little bit concerned with the crowd's reaction to Marlon Beresford. "They gave their keeper more praise than they did ours.

"They might think one or two things weren't right but there's no need for the way they reacted.

"I would have gone mad with him if he had thrown the ball up the field."

Heath is still waiting for a response from Dutch club Heerenveen about the availability of giant defender Mel Schoenmakers.

And he has not ruled out a permanent move for Doug Hodgson, the Australian defender on loan from Sheffield United.

He is out for six weeks with a fractured cheekbone and will not play any further part in Heath's plans during an initial month loan.
