Blackburn Rovers Res 1, Bolton Wanderers Res 0

GRAHAM Fenton's goal three minutes after half-time settled a disappointing Pontin's League Premier Division derby at Deepdale last night.

Rovers didn't play well but picked up another three points when James Beattie's deflected shot rebounded from the crossbar and Fenton showed his scoring instincts to be on hand to head home.

Stuart Ripley was behind Rovers' best two other moments in the match. The winger made a superb run after 27 minutes and finished with a searing shot which brought a fine save from Aidan Davison.

Then Ripley, substituted near the end, charged 50 yards down the right to set up a straightforward chance for Fenton, after 77 minutes, but the striker shot wide.

Bolton had plenty of the play and could easily have scored in the opening period, with Scott Taylor and Stuart Whittaker going close.

But Marlon Broomes made some good interceptions and Shay Given was comfortable in goal to ensure a Rovers victory even though their overall display left a lot to be desired.
