SUPERMARKETS throughout East Lancahire were clearing the shelves of thousands of bottles of Lucozade after a nationwide alert from anti-terrorist squad detectives. It was feared that bottles of the popular drink may have been contaminated by the activitists.
Basil Marriott, 62, scooped £113,000 on the spot-the-ball contest. Mr Marriott, a senior manager at Crown Berger, Darwen, said he had no plans to paint the town red.
