I HAVE left the UK to embark on one of the world's last great unconquered challenges - to cross the whole of Antarctica solo and unsupported.

I ask readers to support this exciting international expedition and in doing so, help raise £3 million for the pioneering research charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Over 1,000 women in the UK die from breast cancer every month; together I know we can help make a difference.

The expedition will be the toughest and most challenging expedition I have ever undertaken. If successful, it will be an historic achievement for Britain, and the money raised will help Breakthrough establish the UK's first dedicated breast cancer research centre.

By sponsoring my every step, people and groups from all over the UK can play their own part in the success of the expedition and the fight against breast cancer.

Anyone wishing to support the expedition can ring 0990 11 22 26 to receive a pack with information on ways to get involved or to pledge a donation to Breakthrough.

SIR RANULPH FIENNES.
