The prison issue is obviously causing concern. It becomes more sinister when we hear contrary to what we've been told, that a holiday firm are interested in the site.

By this we can assume it's a foregone conclusion that the Prison Service and the government will snap up the site and happily have 700 prisoners on the cheap regardless of the consequences.

I disagree with Kay Carson, this is a political matter. Where is the voice of our eminent MP on this issue he seems conspicuous with his silence.

Recently he's jumped to the forefront of publicity backing locals on Poulton Square and Hampsfell Drive. Of course on these issues he's only belittling the local council.

The present issue is a different kettle of fish. Yet I feel we are entitled to know his views. Does he support the project as he did when Nynex showed interest in our area or is he opposed to the idea and prepared to back locals in an anti-prison campaign?

Surely a campaign led by an MP will carry far more weight than without one or is he afraid of losing brownie points to eminent members of the Tory party, particularly those on the right wing.

Mr D Evans,
