ENFIELD have signed up hard-hitting Aussie all-rounder Shane Lee as they go gunning for Lancashire League glory.

The 23-year-old New South Wales star replaces Franklyn Rose as professional at the Dill Hall Lane side and president John Hargreaves reckons the club has landed one of their best players in years.

Lee enjoyed a successful spell at Somerset last year where he scored more than 1,300 runs and took 40 first class wickets.

This winter he has scored a century against England A and also had a return of four for 35.

Now the recently re-elected president is looking to attract fresh blood to the club to improve on last season's mid-table position.

Mr Hargreaves said: "We are delighted with the signing because we believe he is a very good player. Now we are looking to attract three of four new amateur players for our assault on the championship."

Enfield members have been told the club has made a profit of £2,750.
