SOUTHPORT is an exciting resort all year round with fun-packed activities for all the family.

Set on the beautiful North West coast, it is a perfect destination for a summer day out.

But if the British weather isn't up to scratch there's still plenty to do.

With superb shopping, great live entertainment and exciting sporting events, you are never at a loss for something to do.

For top flight entertainment the Southport Theatre and Floral Hall complex on the Promenade presents a wonderful programme of shows, concerts and performances for everyone.

They range from modern variety shows and old-time music hall

to talent nights, Lancashire nights and a spectacular Christmas pantomime.

The traditional Southport English Rose Beauty Contest is held during the summer months in the Floral Hall Gardens and, for the little girls, there is the Southport Rosebud contest.

Live entertainment from brass bands can often be enjoyed at the Band Stand on Lord Street and in the Botanic Gardens.

Also worth a visit are Southport's Little Theatre and Southport Arts Centre where you can catch touring drama, jazz bands, international music and dance.

Lord Street with its elaborate Victorian wrought iran canopies gives the shopping centre an elegant look.

Leading off are many fine Victorian arcades full of specialist shops, cafes and walkways.

High street names have also invested millions of pounds in the town to make it one of the best shopping centres in the country.

There are more than seven miles of golden sands along Southport's coastline and if the children are feeling energetic, there are plenty of organised nature walks to join.

Sports fans will also be kept happy with golf and plenty of water sports including wind surfing, jet skiing, sailing, water skiing and rowing.

So next time you visit Southport, bring all the family and be sure of a great day.
