POLICE are hunting a violent thug who robbed a pensioner of £30 in her own home after threatening her with a gun.

The incident happened at about 1.50pm on Saturday, February 8, when the 80-year-old victim answered the front door of her home in Dunmail Avenue, Carr Mill to a man asking if she had lost a cat.

When she told him she hadn't, he pushed the front door back, knocking her to the ground. Before the shocked woman could say anything, the offender pulled a hand gun out of his pocket and ordered her to get up and hand over any money she had.

He pulled her to her feet and followed her into the living room where she handed him £30 from her purse. The man then ran off leaving the pensioner shocked and extremely shaken but otherwise, unhurt.

The attacker was white, 26 to 28 years of age, about 5ft 1in with a thin build. His eyes were pale-blue and he had a pale complexion and a slight speech impediment. He was wearing dirty, blue denim jeans, a three-quarter-length jacket, woollen gloves and dirty white trainers.
