FIVE more high schools in the borough are helping consolidate Bury's pioneering approach towards the issuing of drugs information to pupils.
Twenty young people, attached to the five schools, have just completed their training course.
The information gathered will enable them to feed out factually correct information on drugs issues.
They are now attached to the Peer-led Drugs Project, a three-year initiative.
Two years ago, Bury was the first area in Greater Manchester to launch the project. It has become so successful that it has been advertised nationwide through the Home Office crime prevention digest.
The high schools involved in the current phase of the project are Elton, Castlebrook, Parrenthorn, St Monica's RC, and Broad Oak.
The project is jointly funded by the Greater Manchester Police Shrievalty Trust, Warburton's the bakers, Bury Metro Community Safety Strategy Group, Bury Education Authority and the Early Break Project.
