THE gnomes of Zurich, otherwise known as the moneybags of Europe, had strong competition this week - from Westleigh High School!

For a group of year 10 and 11 students and two teachers were in Brussels showing off their latest gnome-ware efforts and were banking on success for the school project.

The delegation - Graham Stewart, Lisa Shuttleworth, Daniel Taylor and Paul Dootson, with teachers Mr. C. Round and Mrs. K. Hall - were in Belgium for three days to represent Westleigh High in a European Trade Fair Competition.

The school's Young Enterprise Group, comprising of pupils Daniel Taylor, Kerry Richardson, Martin Rigby, Emma Lozens, Joanne Maher, Shammas Anwar, David King, Craig Hulme, Ian Gregson, Colin Robinson, Graham Stewart, Dianna Cairns, Lisa Shuttleworth, Paul Dootson, Jamie Ralph, Gareth Judge and Melanie Christou, manufacture garden gnomes, aprons, bookmarks, tea cosies and paper weights which they market and sell as a business venture.
