A NEW community and youth centre at Bryer Road, Prescot, will be officially opened by Mayor of Knowsley, Councillor John Gallagher, on Wednesday, February 19 at 2pm.

Knowsley Council has spent £60,000 on refurbishing the building which now has first-class facilities including a new main hall, meeting room and much-needed storage areas.

The building has been completely redecorated giving it a modern, bright feel, and it is available for use by local community groups and youth clubs.

Knowsley's Community and Youth Section has organised an open day on that day starting at 10am. Coffee will be laid on and members of the public are welcome to call in to look at the facilities on offer and make suggestions about their possible uses.

There is also an open evening that night for the young people of the area who want to know what is available locally including outdoor pursuits, arts, sports and Duke of Edinburgh schemes. The evening starts at 7pm.

The open day continues into Thursday, February 20, starting with a keep-fit session at 10am and anyone is welcome to take part.
