A DESCENDENT of 19th-century Burnley emigrants to America is searching for long-lost relatives.

Mark Driver, from Walla Walla, Washington State, USA, seeks information on the side of his family which remained in Britain after his ancestors crossed the Atlantic.

He said: "My great-grandparents - James Driver, born 1847, and Elizabeth Beswick, 1848 - left Burnley in 1868 with their infant son, Walton.

"James had one brother, William, born 1842, who did not leave England. He married Ellen Hudson in 1863. They had five children at the time of the 1891 census: Margaret Emma, born circa 1863, who married James Greenwood in 1884; Ada, born circa 1870, Walton, 1874, John Ernest, 1881, and Maude, 1886.

"This family lived at 15 Blakely Street in 1881 and at 15 Albert Street in 1891. They were all born in Burnley."

Mark added: "The parents of James and William Driver were Walton Driver, born circa 1818 in Barrowford, and Ellen Clough, 1817 in Briercliffe. The father of Elizabeth Beswick was Abel Beswick.

"I am searching for relatives of these individuals. I would be very grateful for help."
